Obituary of Edward Daniel Galandak

Edward Daniel Galandak, age 84, passed away on March 7, 2023, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Basking Ridge, NJ.  Mr. Galandak was born in New York City, raised in Newark, NJ, and had resided in Basking Ridge since 2013.

Mr. Galandak graduated from Arts High School in Newark, NJ.  He furthered his education at Rutgers University, earning his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy.  After college, he served his country by enlisting in the US Army National Guard.

Mr. Galandak was a people person who enjoyed conversations with everyone he met.  Perhaps that’s why he spent the first half of his career working in several retail pharmacies.  He ultimately worked as a pharmacist at the VA hospital in Lyons, NJ, where he retired from in 2001.

He was a former member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Long Valley, NJ, and a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Florham Park, NJ. He was a member of the Musconetcong Lodge #42 of the Free & Accepted Masons.

Mr. Galandak was an avid fisherman and holds the NJ state record for the largest golden trout ever caught.  His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.

He is predeceased by his first wife, Eleanor A. Galandak, in 1998, his mother, Emilia Galandak, in 1981, and his father, Daniel Galandak, in 1991.

Mr. Galandak is survived by his wife, Rose Galandak; his son Edward David Galandak; his brother John Galandak and his wife, Gail; his daughter-in-law, Maria Villafrade; his grandchildren, Michilina Villafrade, Anthony Villafrade, and Ella Villafrade; his father-in-law, Joseph Ciufo; his mother-in-law, Filomena Ciufo; his brother-in-law, August Ciufo and his wife Helena; his two nieces, Dr. Jessica Galandak and Melissa Galandak; and his nephew, William Ciufo.
