Obituary of Michael Joseph Walsh
Michael J. Walsh, age 80, passed away on Monday, March 27, 2023, at the Tower Lodge Care Center in Wall, NJ. Born in Staten Island, NY, Michael had resided in Martinsville, NJ, New York City, and Staten Island before moving to Wall, NJ.
Michael received a Bachelor of Arts in English from St. Peter's College, Jersey City, in 1963, and a Master of Arts in English Literature from Rutgers University in 1966. Before entering business, Mike taught English at Notre Dame College (now St. John's University), where he served on the Executive Committee of the American Association of University Professors and the Executive Board of the United Federation of College Teachers, AFL/CIO. Prior to his retirement in 1991, Michael worked as a consultant for Continental Grain Company as well as FIDATA Corporation, specializing in Human Resource development and training. After retiring from the business world, and due to his love of learning, Michael received an additional Master of Arts in English Education from New York University, was a Kappa Delta Pi member, and spent time teaching at the Forsyth Street Satellite Academy in New York City.
Michael enjoyed traveling the world, reading from his extensive personal library, and learning about religion and culture. He would best prefer to be remembered as the "Husband of Florence" with whom, although short, he experienced the best of life with.
Michael was a member of Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church while living in Martinsville, NJ.
He is predeceased by his loving wife, Florence, in June of 1989; his father, Thomas Walsh, 1975; and his mother, Helen Burke Walsh, 1998.
Michael is survived by his sister, Mary Dublinski, a niece, Jeannie Greene, and a great-niece Meghan Greene. Michael is also survived by two nephews David and Douglas Edasi.
A funeral mass will be held on April 1, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament RC Church in Martinsville, NJ, followed by the burial at Holy Cross Cemetery in Basking Ridge.
