Obituary of Lorraine M. Lindemeyer

Lorraine Marie Lindemeyer, age 86, passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at her home in North Plainfield, NJ, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Lorraine has resided in North Plainfield for more than 58 years.

Lorraine worked for JP Morgan, NY, as an administrative assistant from 1959-1963. She also worked at North Plainfield East End Elementary School as a lunchroom aide. Prior to her retirement in 1997, Lorraine was a medical receptionist for George I. Weinberger, M.D., in North Plainfield.

When her children were young, Lorraine volunteered for many years as a Brownie leader and taught catechism at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, both in North Plainfield. She was an active member of the North Plainfield East End Elementary School PTA.

Lorraine was an avid reader and enjoyed collecting music boxes. She was a wildlife enthusiast who spent much of her time sitting outside observing the local wildlife, such as the birds, deer, and “all the critters great and small.” She also enjoyed gardening and loved dogs, especially her beloved Rusty.  

Lorraine is preceded in death by her loving husband of 39 years, Charles William Lindemeyer Jr., in 1999. 

She is survived by her son, Gregory Lindemeyer, and his wife, Donna, daughter Janet Dalley and her husband, Stu, daughter Karen Pear and her husband, Bill, brother William R. Ederle, sister Katherine A. Doherty, and loving grandchildren Alex and Kyle Pear, and Nicole Lindemeyer. 

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bernard’s Roman Catholic Church in Plainfield, NJ, followed by the interment at Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plains, NJ.
