Obituary of Seymour Ray Armm
Seymour Ray Armm passed away peacefully on the morning of April 12, 2023, in Boca Raton, FL. He was 98 years old.
Born on December 2, 1924, Seymour was a longtime resident of New Jersey before retiring to Florida. He lived in Plainfield, NJ, from 1953 to 1957 and in North Plainfield, NJ, from 1957 to 1988. He was a member of Temple Sholom in Scotch Plains, NJ, and formerly of Plainfield, NJ, where he was active in the Jewish community. He took great pride in chairing the temple’s building and grounds committee for many years and personally performing much of the maintenance.
Seymour proudly served as a Pharmacist’s Mate 1st Class in the U.S. Navy during World War II, stationed in New Caledonia (South Pacific). He went on to work in the family linen supply business and then on to inside sales at Sol Zemel Plumbing Supply in Plainfield, NJ, where he retired.
In addition to his faith, Seymour was a dedicated volunteer in his community. He volunteered at Meals on Wheels in Ocean County, NJ, and was an early member of the Plainfield Rescue Squad where he served for many years. Seymour also served as the Plainfield Area Red Cross first aid instructor. He believed in helping others and making a difference in the world.
Seymour had a passion for model railroading and was a member of the Model Railroad Club of Leisure Village West in Manchester, NJ. He spent countless hours perfecting his models and sharing his love of the hobby with others.
Seymour was also a sports enthusiast and enjoyed participating in various leagues throughout his life. He loved bowling, golf, softball, and volleyball, and was always up for a friendly competition. His sportsmanship and friendly demeanor will be missed by all who knew him.
Seymour was predeceased by his beloved wife, Ada, in 2015 and is survived by his two children, Michael Armm, and Deborah Czech and her husband, Allen, along with his grandchildren Jared Czech, Samuel Armm, and Mollie Armm.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 14, 2023, at 1:00 pm at Mount Lebanon Cemetery, 189 Gill Ln, Iselin, NJ 08830. All attending, please meet at the office.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and community. May his memory be a blessing.
