Obituary of Marie C. Federico
Marie C. Federico, 91, passed away on May 9, 2023. Born in Jersey City, N.J., in 1932, Marie was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Catalda Zimbardo and one of five children. When Marie was 5 years old, the family moved to Warren, N.J., where she met and married her beloved husband, Jonrussell, in September 1953. Together they raised their two children, Jonrussell and Donna, in Warren, N.J.
Marie was kind, sweet, and generous, and a woman of many talents. Aside from being an exceptional wife and mother, Marie was a terrific cook and baker and loved to entertain friends and family. She had an artistic flair and enjoyed watercolor painting, flower arranging, sewing clothes, and ballroom dancing with her husband. She worked at Towne Furs, Best & Co., and Warrenville Florist before taking a full-time job at Bell Laboratories in Murray Hill, N. J., where she worked for 15 years.
Marie was an active member of the Our Lady of the Mount parish. She sang in the choir as well as participated in the Altar Rosary Society and, of course, the bake sales.
After her husband’s passing in 1990, Marie moved from Warren to their home on Long Beach Island, where she continued her painting and became an active member in the St. Francis of Assisi parish again, singing in the choir and volunteering for other activities, including, of course, the bake sales. She also joined the Long Beach Island Women’s Club and sang in their choral group. As a senior, Marie was able to travel to the Canadian Rockies, Italy, Greece, Spain, and Portugal, which she enjoyed immensely.
A few weeks after superstorm Sandy in 2012, Marie moved to Leisure Park in Lakewood, N.J. where she enjoyed making friends, playing cards and bingo, and attending all of the live musical entertainment.
Marie was predeceased by her husband, Jonrussell; her brothers, Joseph and Salvatore; her sisters, Ann and Eileen; and her son, Jonrussell.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna, and her husband, Paul, her five nieces, and two nephews.
Marie will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
