Obituary of Michael John Scott

Michael John Scott, age 59, passed peacefully on Sunday, August 24, 2014, at Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington, surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in Plainfield, he has resided in Bedminster for over thirty years. Michael was a twelve year veteran and head of Detectives for the Watchung Police Department. He then enjoyed a successful thirty year career in Real Estate, most recently as Manager of the Coldwell Banker East office in Westfield. Michael was a passionate and committed coach of youth sports for the Bedminster Recreation Department for many years. He was a classic car enthusiast, an avid Mets and Giants fan, and enjoyed playing golf with friends. More than anything Michael loved spending time with his family. Predeceased by his sister Nancy Greves. Surviving is his loving wife of thirty-eight years Norma (DeFilippis) Scott; his sons John and Andrew; his daughter Christina; his brother William; his sisters MaryAnn Weber, Ellen Conaghan, Jayne Goldstein and Jacqueline Petras; many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Helen's Catholic Church, 1600 Rahway Ave., Westfield, NJ. Interment is private. Arrangements are under the direction of Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ.
