Obituary of James Gunter
James Solomon Gunter AKA (Country), 72, of Plainfield NJ, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014 from 10 to11am at Higgins Funeral Home 209 W. 8th St, Plainfield, NJ 07060 followed by an 11am funeral service. Cremation will be private.
James was born May 5,1942, in Onancock Virginia to the late Solomon Thomas Gunter and Alice McCoy Gunter. He was educated in the public schools of Accomack County, Virginia. He was a kind, loving, and caring person, who loved his family dearly. He moved to Ocean City Maryland early in his life, and it was at this time that he was given the nickname of "Country" by his best friend Chico. He then moved to Plainfield, NJ which became his home, where he made many friends and acquaintances as he enjoyed his life there. He enjoyed spending time with his sons, and grandchildren, as well as fishing, car racing, and talking about the delicious foods his mama use to cook.
James was predeceased in death by his parents Alice and Solomon Gunter; sisters: Sallie Bailey and Catherine Stokley; and a Brother, Shelton Clark; and two grandsons.
He is survived by a devoted and loving companion of 39 years, Alice Chavis; four children: Keith, Marcello, Julian, and Saundra; two sisters: Juanita Hines (Richard)of Portsmouth, Virginia, and Olive Finney (Glenn) of Nelsonia, Virginia, and thirteen grandchildren, two great-grand, and a host of nieces, nephews, devoted bother-in-law Paul Mcintyre other relatives and friends.
