Obituary of Etelvina Alvarado

En memoria amorosa de Etelvina Alvarado, de 88 años, quien falleció el martes 1 de agosto de 2023, en el Hospital Universitario Robert Wood Johnson en New Brunswick, rodeada de su cariñosa familia.

Etelvina nació en Trujillo, Perú, donde creció, se casó y crió a sus cinco hijos. En 1970, su esposo e hijo emigraron a los Estados Unidos en busca de una vida mejor, y aunque fue difícil estar separada de su familia, hizo ese sacrificio por su bienestar. Finalmente, en 1995, pudo reunirse con su familia en los Estados Unidos, estableciéndose en Dunellen, New Jersey, donde ha residido desde entonces.

Etelvina será recordada con cariño por su talento culinario; su sopa minestrone, su ceviche casero y sus platos tradicionales peruanos siempre alegraban las reuniones de su familia. Su pasión por la cocina se igualaba con su amor por viajar, especialmente el especial recuerdo de un viaje a Toronto, Canadá, con su hijo y nuera.

Por encima de todo, la mayor alegría de Etelvina era pasar tiempo con su familia, especialmente con sus queridos nietos y bisnietos. Deja un legado de amor y recuerdos entrañables.

Etelvina es sobrevivida por sus hijos y hijas, Arturo, Haydee, Gina, Magdalena, Araceli y Victor Alexander Castillo, así como 13 nietos y 24 bisnietos.

Fue precedida en la muerte por sus dos hermanos, Luis y Zenovio.

In loving memory of Etelvina Alvarado, age 88, who passed away on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, surrounded by her loving family.

Etelvina was born in Trujillo, Peru, where she grew up, got married, and raised five children. In 1970, her husband and son immigrated to the United States in search of a better life, and though it was difficult to be separated from her family, she made that sacrifice for their well-being. Finally, in 1995, she was able to join her family in the United States, settling in Dunellen, New Jersey, where she has resided ever since.

Etelvina will be fondly remembered for her culinary talents; Her minestrone soup, her homemade ceviche, and her traditional Peruvian dishes always brightened up her family's gatherings. Her passion for cooking was matched by her love for travel, with a special memory of a trip to Toronto, Canada with her son and daughter-in-law to Toronto.

Above all, Etelvina's greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

Etelvina is survived by her children, Arturo, Haydee, Gina, Magdalena, Araceli and Victor Alexander Castillo, as well as 13 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her two brothers, Luis and Zenovio.
