Obituary of Rosalind Caroline Fraser

Rosalind Caroline Lettsome Fraser was the fifth of six children born to Henry and Anesta Lettsome on the island of Tortola, in the British Virgin Islands, on November 22, 1919. Even as a young child, Rosalind embraced learning and studying. This trait guided her life and transferred over to many of the people with whom she came in contact. Aunt Lin, as she was known to her many nieces and nephews, exemplified the scripture, Matthew 25:35. "For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in", as she sheltered her many nieces and nephews as they sought their own lives in the United States. She emigrated to the United States in 1952, and setteled in Brooklyn New York, before moving on to Long Island, New York. Here she and her husband, Achille Fraser raised four daughters. Her own accomplishments include a Diploma of Nursing from Kings County School of Nursing in Brooklyn, New York. She also earned a Certificate in Bible Studies from Bethel Bible College in Queens New York. During her years in New York, she worked as a Pediatric nurse at Methodist Hospital. After moving to Long Island, she worked at Hempstead General Hospital and Glen Cove Medical Center. At the age of eighty-five, she was inspired to write poetry, and she continued to do so untill her final illness. In 1984, she moved to Plainfield, New Jersey and worked as a Nurse at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center. She joined Wesley United Methodist Church in 1986. The hallmark of her life was her strong unshakleable faith, which she learned from her mother and other family members. This was the example she set for her children, and was experienced by all who came to know her. She leaves to mourn three of her four daughters: Louise Wanzer and Margaret Fraser of New Jersey, and Irma Carmichael of Columbus, Ohio; seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, and friends, too numerous to count. She follows into death her husband Achille Fraser and her daughter Diane Little of Florida. Viewing will be held on Monday, September 8, 2014 from 9-10 a.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church, South Plainfield with a service immediately following at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Hollywood Memorial Park, Union.
