Obituary of Glenn W. Steeber
Warren – Glenn W. Steeber, 76, known lovingly as “Fuzzy” to most, died Saturday, October 14, 2023 at Sunrise Senior Living in Basking Ridge, New Jersey.
Born and raised in Warren, NJ, Glenn attended WHRHS where he met the love of his life, Leslie, and graduated in 1965. He then went on to work for New Jersey Bell before being drafted during the Vietnam War. Glenn spent two tours in Vietnam, coming home on leave to marry Leslie. When he was discharged in 1970, he returned to work at NJ Bell, where he remained until he retired in 2003.
Glenn was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting, and having a huge vegetable garden. Another pastime, when he was younger, building and racing fast cars. He grew up working on his grandfather’s farm on Washington Valley Road. He delighted people with stories of growing up on that farm and the Hijinx he would pull.
He married Leslie in November 1967. They were married for 52 years until Leslie’s passing in 2020.
Glenn became a grandfather in 2006 and could not wait to meet his granddaughter. He took such pride in being a grandfather, loving every moment of it. He lit up every time she was around. The bond they shared will last forever.
Glenn had so much to teach people over the years. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge of things he loved with everyone interested in listening.
Of late, his interests shifted to taxidermy, for which he perfected his techniques, producing beautiful mounts. When Pops did something, he did it all the way!
He is predeceased by his wife, Leslie O. Steeber, his mother and father, Claire and William Steeber, and his sister, who just recently passed in September of this year.
He is survived by his loving daughter and son-in-law, Sherri and Michael Strauss of Raritan, NJ; his son and daughter-in-law, Christopher Steeber and Andrea Martins of Laguna Nigel, California and his most favorite person in his life; his granddaughter, Jessica Strauss of Raritan, NJ.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 20, 2023, from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m., with a military service at 6:30 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home, 752 Mountain Blvd, Watchung, NJ. Cremation will be private.
