Obituary of Charles J. Cyga

Charles Joseph Cyga, age 95, died on Wednesday, September 10, 2014, at his home in Watchung. Born in Acosta, PA, he lived in Newark before moving to Watchung sixty-three years ago. Charles joined the Army Air Corps in January of 1940, and served in World War II, repairing military planes; he also was a fire arms instructor at the Air Corps Academy. Prior to retiring he worked in Northern, NJ for Jannin Company for thirteen years, previous to that he was employed by the Heil Company for twenty-eight years in Hillside, doing welding on large fuel and oil tanks. In his spare time he was very involved in the Watchung Community and enjoyed gardening. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his loving wife of sixty-nine years Jean Cyga in 2014. Surviving are his daughters Mary Jane Langton and her husband Jim, Louise Ahlers and her husband Fred; his brother Chester Cyga; 5 grandchildren Mary Jane Langton-Schliem (Tom), Kelly Otte (Doug), Tom Langton (Caitlin), Amie Osborn (Robert), Freddy Ahlers (Lisa); 8 great-grandchildren Charlotte Rose, Abby, Hollie, Benton, Trey, Cole, Paige, Finn. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ, followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Stony Hill Church, Watchung. Entombment will follow at St. Mary's Stony Hill Cemetery, Watchung. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 15th from 4:00-7:00 p.m.
