Obituary of Patricia Maria Jervis

We regretfully announce the passing of Patricia Maria Jervis, age 79, on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Overlook Medical Hospital in Summit, New Jersey, surrounded by her beloved family.

Patricia, fondly known as Pat and endearingly called "Petunia" by her father—a nickname that resonated with her throughout her life—was born in Plainfield, New Jersey. She briefly lived in Newark and South Plainfield before returning to North Plainfield, which she called home for the majority of her life.

Pat's professional life was marked by her 25-year tenure at Hartford Steam Boiler Company in the insurance department, from where she retired five years ago. Her dedication and work ethic were highly esteemed by her colleagues.

Spirituality formed the cornerstone of Pat's life. A devout Christian, she nurtured a deep relationship with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was an active and long-time member of Hydewood Park Baptist Church in North Plainfield, where she contributed significantly by preparing PowerPoint slides for services and leading weekly women's Bible study groups. Her faith was not just a part of her life; it was a beacon that shone through her interactions.

Pat enjoyed traveling with her family, creating unforgettable memories in places like Walt Disney World, Louisiana, and Maine. In her younger years, she took pleasure in bowling.

Pat leaves behind a legacy of love and faith. She is survived by her children, Derek Jervis and Rachel Jervis, along with her husband Sergio Marano; her grandchildren, Isaiah and Giuliano; her sister, Cindy Turner; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and cherished friends.

A visitation will be held on Friday, November 24, 2023, from 4 to 8 pm at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Pat's memory can be made to The International Fellowship of Christians and Jews.
