Obituary of Marie E. Usher
Marie E. Usher, age 93, a devoted homemaker and a beloved figure in the Union, New Jersey community, passed away on December 17, 2023, at Sunrise Assisted Living in Bridgewater, New Jersey. Born in Cranford, she spent fifty fruitful years in Union before her move to Bridgewater in 1999.
Marie, a Cranford High School alumna, furthered her education at Drake College of Business in Elizabeth, New Jersey. She dedicated her life to creating a warm and loving home for her three children, taking pride in the role of a homemaker. Her faith played a significant role in her life, as she was a committed communicant of Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church in Union and later at Blessed Sacrament Church in Martinsville, New Jersey.
An avid knitter, Marie found joy and solace in the intricate patterns and the rhythm of her knitting needles. Her handcrafted creations were a testament to her skill and patience. Marie also cherished the moments spent traveling, especially the trips to Cape Cod with her late husband, Peter Usher, who predeceased her in 2021.
Marie is survived by her loving children, Mary Anne Usher, Susan Marie Abys and her husband, Joseph, and Mark P. Usher and his wife, Jolanta, along with her five grandsons.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are welcomed in Marie's memory to Grace Healthcare Hospice, 105 Fieldcrest Ave #402, Edison, NJ 08837.
Marie's life, with its dedication to family, faith, and the simple pleasures of knitting and travel, will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew her.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ. A mass will follow commencing at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, 1890 Washington Valley Road, Martinsville, NJ. She will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery in Basking Ridge, NJ.
