Obituary of Theodora L. Hayden

Theodora L. Hayden, age 89, passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2014 at JFK Medical Center in Edison, NJ. Born in Scotch Plains, NJ she had resided in Magruder, VA and Wilkes Barre, PA before moving to Plainfield over 70 years ago. Mrs. Hayden was a member of the Jehova Witness Kingdom Hall in Plainfield for over 45 years. She was an excellent cook and baker, enjoyed sewing and was a wonderful singer. Mrs. Hayden began one of Plainfield's first day care centers and many of her clients remain very close to the family to this day. She is predeceased by her husband Bernard H. Hayden, Sr. in 1990, her son Darryl M. Hayden and two daughters Bernice G. King and Deborah A. Burroughs. Surviving are her children Bernard H. Hayden, Jr. of Plainfield, Charlotte V. Pierre of Plainfield and Marilyn R. Auten of Edgewater Park. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and a host of extended family and loving friends. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 19, 2014 from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 209 West 8th St., Plainfield followed by a 12:00 p.m. funeral service at the funeral home. The interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains, NJ
