Funeral Services for John Guedes
A visitation will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ. A funeral mass will be held on the following day, Saturday, January 6, 2024, at St. Mary's Stony-Hill R.C. Church, 225 Mountain Blvd. He will be laid to rest at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover, NJ.

Obituary of John Guedes
John Guedes, 81, of Toms River, NJ, formerly of Berkeley Heights, NJ, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2023, at home, surrounded by the love of his life, his beloved wife Anna Marie.
For 33 years, John was employed by the Union County Educational Commission, as a Special Education Teacher at the West Lake School in Westfield, NJ, where he received the Teacher of the Year Award in 1997. His patience and dedication touched the lives of countless students. John's zest for life and commitment to a healthy lifestyle led him to embrace outdoor activities such as cycling, jogging, swimming, and kayaking.
He is predeceased by his parents, Alzira and Joao Guedes, and sister, Janet Marie Guedes,
John is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Anna Marie Guedes, brother-in-law Raymond Torella, sister-in-law Rochelle Torella, nieces Nicole Torella, Noelle Torella, and her husband Chris Pidustwa, along with great- nephew Sebastian Pidustwa. He also leaves behind a network of cherished family members and friends who will fondly remember him. John will be sorely missed, his memory forever etched in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known and loved him.

A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Saint Mary's - Stony Hill Church in Watchung, NJ. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover, NJ.
