Obituary of Elizabeth Jean Aldrich
Elizabeth Jean Aldrich, age 93, of Watchung, passed away peacefully surrounded by the warmth of her loving family on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at the Abbington Care and Rehabilitation Center in Green Brook. A lifelong resident of Watchung, born in Plainfield, Elizabeth's journey began at North Plainfield High School, where she not only acquired her education but also met the love of her life, George Aldrich.
Elizabeth's life was a testament to the joys of motherhood. Blessed with seven children, she embraced every aspect of being a mother with open arms and a boundless heart. Her role expanded joyously into that of a grandmother and great-grandmother, titles she wore with immense pride and happiness. Elizabeth's presence was a constant at her children's and grandchildren's sporting events, from cheering on her sons in football and wrestling to also supporting her grandchildren's wrestling matches. Her calendar was a mosaic of family events, each one marked with the anticipation of celebration and unity.
Family trips to the shore were among her cherished traditions, moments where laughter and stories mingled with the sea breeze. Elizabeth's commitment to her community was evident through her long-standing membership at the historical club and at Wilson Memorial Church in Watchung, NJ, where she shared her faith and fellowship with others.
Predeceased by her beloved husband, George, in 2002, and her siblings, Fred and Ona, Elizabeth's legacy continues through her vibrant family. She leaves behind a loving and grateful family: her children, Richard (Susan), Thomas (Michele), Mark, Tim (Lindsey), Randy (Jane), Dawn (Pat), and David (Lisa); her ten grandchildren, Ryan (Suzanne), Kyle (Alexandria), Cary (Elizabeth), Jay, Tara (Todd), Brooke (Jaime), Brendon, Joseph, Gina, and Michael; and her ten great-grandchildren, Maggie, Callum, Rylan, May, Chase, Brielle, Luke, Caleb, Faith, and Ty. Each one is a part of her enduring love story.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ, from 4 to 8 p.m. A funeral service to celebrate Elizabeth's life will take place on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at 10 a.m. at Wilson Memorial Church in Watchung, NJ, where we will gather to honor her memory and the immeasurable impact she had on all who knew her.
