Our dad, although a private person (he never reallywanted to go out to do anything very social), excelled at talking to people, breaking down barriers, and making peopleclaugh! You would never know this fact when he was out in a social gathering. Through his humor and quick wit he made so many friends. I remeber a big Drake Avenue block party (on Morris Place) where he drove a bunch of people around the neighborhood, in the bed of his 1977 Ford Super Cab F150! (You could do those things back then.) He loved making people happy.
Another time, on Christmas Eve, I'm playing catch with a football, on our side street,with my friend Ray M. Dad comes home and does a donut in the street spraying us with snow!!! We thought it was so funny then but now, it's so much more meaningful and special.
We can spend our lives on dwelling on what we never had, I choose to dwell on what we were fortunate to have.
Dad, rest easy, Until we all are reunited again please know that you are loved.
