Obituary of Frieda Staeger

Frieda Staeger, age 71, died on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at Overlook Hospital in Summit. She was born in Newark, NJ and was raised in Union. She was married in Hawaii and lived in Short Hills for 10 years before moving to Watchung in 1977. Prior to her retirement in 2007, she was a pre-school teacher for the Long Hill Christian Preschool in Chatham for 25 years. She loved teaching her 3 year old classes. Mrs. Staeger was a member of the Gillette Chapel in Gilette. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and spending time with her family, especially during the holidays. Surviving are her loving husband of 53 years, Paul C. Staeger; her son, Robert Staeger and his wife Dawn; her daughters, Cindy Wolfenden and her husband John; Sue Hughes and her husband Brian; Janette Walby and her husband John, and Mary Wilson and her husband Jim, as well as 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her twin brother, Rudy Brauer, and her sisters Elsie Bauer and Evelyn Pytell. A Memorial viewing will be held on Saturday, September 28th from 3 to 6 pm at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by a 6 pm Memorial Service. Cremation was private.
