Obituary of Jose Otero
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the unexpected passing of Jose L. Otero, Jr., on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, in Plainfield, New Jersey, at the tender age of 36. A lifelong resident of Plainfield, Jose's early years were shaped by the community and values he held dear. His journey of faith began at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, where he received his sacraments and confirmation, instilling in him a foundation of faith that would accompany him throughout his life.
Jose was a proud alumnus of Plainfield High School, where he distinguished himself not only academically but also as an exceptional wrestler. His love for wrestling began at the young age of seven, and he pursued the sport with passion and dedication through his high school years. Jose's athletic talent was matched only by his indomitable spirit and his ability to bring joy and laughter to those around him. He was known for his caring nature, respectfulness, and his innate ability to make others feel loved and valued. Jose's sense of humor, beautiful smile, and charming personality were his trademarks, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his beloved mother, Brenda Caicedo, and her husband, Henry Caicedo; his adored children, Daniel Otero, Mariah Otero, Jy’nir Otero, and Keilani Otero; his loving siblings, Yissenia Rodriguez, Henry J. Caicedo, Yailene Caicedo, Yaritza Rodriguez, and Jessica Caicedo; and a community of friends and relatives who were touched by his kindness and generosity.
Jose's life was a testament to the power of love, friendship, and resilience. As we mourn his untimely departure, we also celebrate the profound impact he had on our lives. His memory will forever be a guiding light, inspiring us to live with kindness, laughter, and love.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ. He will be laid to rest on Monday, March 11, 2024, at Hillside Cemetery. 1401 Woodland Avenue, Scotch Plains, NJ.
