Obituary of Guangyin Li
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Guangyin Li, who left us peacefully on March 20, 2024, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey, at the age of 84.
Born on November 11, 1939, in Hubei, China, Guangyin was a person of integrity and warmth, whose journey of life was as remarkable as the legacy he leaves behind. A long-time resident of Wuhan, China, he moved to the United States in July 2006, settling in Green Brook, New Jersey, with his beloved daughter.
Guangyin's academic pursuits led him to Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology, where he graduated with a degree in civil engineering. His career flourished in a construction company, where not only did he demonstrate his expertise and passion for building, but also met his future wife, thanks to the serendipitous connection through her father who also worked at the company.
Together with his wife, Jianhua Dong, Guangyin built a loving family and raised three children, Fang Li, Jun Li, and Ke Li, instilling in them the values of dedication, love, and education. His home was filled with the music he adored, and the laughter from the television programs he enjoyed watching. Above all, Guangyin cherished the moments spent with his family and his four grandchildren, to whom he was not just a grandfather but a mentor and a friend.
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Higgins Home Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ 07069. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plain, NJ.
Guangyin's life was a tapestry of hard work, family devotion, and quiet pleasures. His presence was a source of stability and love, which will be dearly missed but fondly remembered.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, embodied in his wife, children, and grandchildren, who will continue to honor his memory by living their lives as he taught them—with kindness, perseverance, and love.
In loving memory of Guangyin Li, a remarkable man whose life’s journey was as fulfilling as the legacy he leaves behind. May he rest in peace.
