Obituary of Gilda Barrison

Gilda Barrison, who reached the venerable age of 82, left us peacefully on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ. Born in the Bronx, Gilda cherished her years on Long Island before relocating to Warren a decade ago, drawing nearer to her son and his family.

An ardent environmentalist, Gilda's passion was mirrored in her professional life, where she thrived as a fundraiser, particularly for projects conserving Long Island's Pine Barrens. Besides her environmental pursuits, she co-founded a cleaning service with her beloved late husband, Sheldon.

Gilda was an accomplished sculptor, favoring stone as her medium, leaving a legacy of her art in her children's homes. Her zest for life extended to globetrotting adventures with Sheldon, spanning various continents and cultures. Above all, Gilda's joy was intertwined with her role as a grandmother, nurturing and maintaining close bonds with her grandchildren throughout her life.

Her journey was prefigured by the loss of her husband, Sheldon, in 2016, and her sister, Joanie. Her legacy endures through her sons, Marc (and his wife, Mimi) and Adam (and his wife, Sondra), her cherished grandchildren Elayna (Matt), Philip, Emma, and Cayden, and her sister, Natalie.
