Obituary of Michael H. Ryzoff
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Michael H. Ryzoff "Butch", who left us peacefully on April 15, 2024, at the age of 87, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on February 8, 1937, in Brooklyn, New York, to Rose and Abraham Ryzoff, Butch was the middle of three sons. He is survived by his elder brother, Dr. Ronald Ryzoff, 91, and his younger brother, Joel Ryzoff, 82.
In 1942, the family relocated to Plainfield, New Jersey, where they embarked on a lifelong journey as entrepreneurs with the purchase of Fenrose Liquors. Butch, alongside his brother Joel, dedicated nearly six decades to the family business before Butch and Sandy retired to Surprise, Arizona, in 2000.
A proud graduate of Plainfield High School in 1955, Butch served honorably in the United States Navy in Norfolk, Virginia, until his discharge in 1959. That same year, he married his beloved wife, Sandra Raizen. Their 65 years of marriage were blessed with two children, Lisa B. Peters of Chandler, Arizona, and Jeffrey D. Ryzoff of Ledgewood, New Jersey, and four cherished grandchildren: Rhyan W. Ryzoff, 31; Mason A. Ryzoff, 29; Shayna L. Ryzoff, 25; and Seth W. Pagetta, 23.
Butch was an avid traveler and enjoyed playing softball, umpiring, and cheering on his favorite sports teams. He took immense joy in watching his family grow and thrive, instilling in them a robust work ethic. Butch's hobbies were a testament to a life filled with adventure, laughter, and the love of his family.
Known affectionately as Poppy Butch, Butchie, or Uncle Butch, he was renowned for his ability to light up any room with his vibrant personality and keen sense of humor. Butch and his wife Sandy shared a lifetime of love and companionship, marked by unwavering support and countless shared adventures.
Michael H. Ryzoff "Butch" will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, humor, and dedication that will forever be cherished by his family and friends.
