Yolanda Vasconez (1960–2024)
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Yolanda Vasconez, who left us peacefully on April 16, 2024, at the age of 63. She died at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ.
Born on July 2, 1960, in Ambato, Ecuador, Yolanda embraced life with vigor and grace. In 1985, she embarked on a new journey to the United States, settling first in Plainfield, NJ, and later in Piscataway, where she made her home for many years.
Yolanda was the epitome of dedication and perseverance, having worked as a machine operator at Viant Incorporated since her arrival in the U.S. Despite the company undergoing several name changes, her commitment never wavered.
A devout Catholic, Yolanda was an active participant at St. Mary’s RC Church in Plainfield. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her generous spirit as she volunteered for numerous church activities.
Her love for her family knew no bounds. Yolanda cherished every moment with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, celebrating their achievements with joy and pride. Known for her kindness, she was always ready to lend a helping hand, even during her own trials. Her passion for nature was reflected in the beautiful plants that adorned her home.
Predeceased by her granddaughter, Yamileth, Yolanda’s legacy continues through her beloved husband, Washington Vasconez; her daughters, Veronica Valdez, Jennifer Vasconez, and Cynthia Vasconez; grandchildren, Carlos, Evelyn, Brianna, Genesis, and Matias; and great-grandchildren, Xavior, Zanayla, and Yazmine. She is also survived by her siblings, Gonzalo, Julia, Carlos, Manuel, and Segundo.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects on Sunday, April 21, 2024, from 2 to 6 pm at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ. A funeral mass will be celebrated in her honor on Monday at 11 am at St. Mary’s RC Church, Plainfield. Yolanda will be laid to rest at Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plains immediately following the mass.
Yolanda’s warm spirit and loving nature will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Nacida el 2 de julio de 1960 en Ambato, Ecuador, Yolanda abrazó la vida con vigor y gracia. En 1985, emprendió un nuevo viaje hacia los Estados Unidos, estableciéndose primero en Plainfield, NJ, y más tarde en Piscataway, donde hizo su hogar durante muchos años.
Yolanda fue el epítome de la dedicación y perseverancia, trabajando como operadora de máquinas en Viant Incorporated desde su llegada a EE.UU. A pesar de varios cambios de nombre de la compañía, su compromiso nunca vaciló.
Católica devota, Yolanda participaba activamente en la Iglesia Católica de St. Mary en Plainfield. Su fe fue la piedra angular de su vida, guiando su espíritu generoso mientras se ofrecía voluntaria en numerosas actividades de la iglesia.
Su amor por su familia no conocía límites. Yolanda atesoraba cada momento con sus nietos y bisnietos, celebrando sus logros con alegría y orgullo. Conocida por su bondad, siempre estaba dispuesta a ayudar a los demás, incluso durante sus propios desafíos. Su pasión por la naturaleza se reflejaba en las hermosas plantas que adornaban su hogar.
Precedida en muerte por su nieta, Yamileth, el legado de Yolanda continúa a través de su amado esposo, Washington Vasconez; sus hijas, Veronica Valdez, Jennifer Vasconez y Cynthia Vasconez; nietos, Carlos, Evelyn, Brianna, Génesis y Matias; y bisnietos, Xavior, Zanayla y Yazmine. También le sobreviven sus hermanos, Gonzalo, Julia, Carlos, Manuel y Segundo.
Amigos y familiares están invitados a dar el último adiós el domingo 21 de abril de 2024, de 2 a 6 pm en la Funeraria Higgins, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ. Una misa fúnebre será celebrada en su honor el lunes a las 11 am en la Iglesia Católica de St. Mary en Plainfield. Yolanda será sepultada inmediatamente después en el Cementerio Hillside en Scotch Plains.
El cálido espíritu y la naturaleza amorosa de Yolanda serán profundamente extrañados por todos quienes la conocieron.
