Carol E. DeFilippis, a lifelong resident of Warren, New Jersey, and a beloved figure in her community, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2024, at the Center for Hope Hospice in Scotch Plains, New Jersey. Born in Middlesex, Vermont, on October 8, 1929, to Benjamin and Dorothy Wallen, Carol moved to Warren in 1935 and has since called it her home.

A graduate of North Plainfield High School, Carol devoted herself to her family as a homemaker. Her love for helping others led her back to education, where she earned her LPN and RN degrees from Somerset County Technical Institute School of Nursing and Somerset County College. Carol's nursing career spanned several esteemed institutions, including Somerset and Morristown Hospitals, and she later served as a corporate nurse at Chubb Insurance Company HQ until her retirement.

Carol was a devout member of Mount Bethel Baptist Church in Warren. Her passions extended to quilting, rug making, cross-stitching, rug hooking, and she was an active member of the Warren Historical Society, always eager to engage in activities that involved sewing.

Carol was predeceased by her loving husband, Edmund DeFilippis, who passed away in 2014, and her siblings, Marjorie Large, Jean Smalley, and Donald Wallen. She is survived by her four children, Edmund and his wife Teresa, Robert and his wife Rita, Dorothy and her husband David DeCota, and Carolyn and her husband Ronaldo Marquez. She also leaves behind five grandchildren, Andrew and Julia DeFilippis, Alison and Matthew DeCota, and Olivia Marquez, as well as four great-grandchildren, Charles and William Bartlett, and James and Henry Cuss.
