Obituary of Grace Clark
Grace Clark of Bridgewater, New Jersey, died peacefully on Monday, May 20, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was 93.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Howard Clark. The pair met when their careers collided at East Orange City Hall. He was the dashing lad in the Engineering Department while she was the stunning young lady in the Shade Tree Department. They played hooky one afternoon to run down to the Jersey shore and the rest is history.
Born in East Orange, New Jersey, she was the beloved daughter of the late John Eick and Catherine Eick and sister of the late John Eick, Donald Eick, Robert Eick and Marion (Eick) Mahr.
Grace had been a resident of Warren, NJ for forty years before moving to Cape May Court House and more recently to Bridgewater. Grace was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother with endless amounts of energy. After their move to Warren, she again worked in Town Hall for many years as a Purchasing Agent where rumor was you had to turn in a pencil nub in order to get a brand-new pencil! Grace’s true passion was enjoying time with her family and being outdoors as much as possible no matter the weather.
Grace had quite a passion for reading and history. She could always be found in the local library, bringing home a stack of books to consume. She will be lovingly missed as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother with a strong independent streak.
Grace Clark is survived by her four daughters, two sons, eleven grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Barbara Volk (Kurt Volk), Kathleen Clark (Robert Niles), Margaret Heyman (Bruce Heyman), Jane Kramer, Howard Clark (Paula Clark) and David Clark (Christina Clark). Also surviving are her eleven grandchildren, Brian Volk (Tiffany Brahn), Brandon Volk (Katelyn Volk), Nathaniel Heyman (Caitlyn Heyman), Elizabeth Heyman, Benjamin Heyman, Kursten Kramer, Bremen Nitto (Matthew Nitto), Thomas Clark (Jaclyn Clark), Alicia Clark, James Clark and John Clark. Also surviving are her two step-grandchildren Jesse Pinnell (Dina Pinnell) and Emily Niles. Also surviving are her two great-grandsons Grayson and Landon Volk and two step-great-grandsons Nevin and Louis Pinnell.
The family is holding a private gathering this week to honor the memory of their mother.
