Obituary of Janice Ray

Janice Ray, age 67, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2024, at her home in Warren, surrounded by her loving family after a long illness. Janice was born in Newark and grew up in Nutley before moving to Warren in 1989.

Janice earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Fairleigh Dickinson University. She dedicated her entire career to the Belleville Board of Education, retiring in 2017.

An adventurous spirit, Janice loved traveling, especially to the Caribbean. Her adventurous nature extended to her culinary interests, as she enjoyed trying new restaurants and sharing those experiences with friends and family. She also had a passion for the theatre and was an avid sports fan, particularly enjoying football.

Janice is survived by her husband, John Ray; her son, Robert Rienzi; and her brother, Frank Ameo, and his wife, Edda. She is also survived by a host of extended family and loving friends.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 3 to 8 pm at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ 07069. The funeral mass will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at St. Mary’s Stony Hill RC Church in Watchung at 9:30 am, followed by entombment at Glendale Cemetery in Bloomfield.
