Obituary of Anthony F. Leonetti

Anthony Frank Leonetti

1954-2024

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Anthony Frank Leonetti, age 69 of South Plainfield, New Jersey.  Anthony was born on Monday, October 11, 1954, in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Harriet and Frank J. Leonetti, Sr.

Anthony’s charisma was unmatched.  He put people at ease with his quick wit and humorous banter.  His stories captivated his audiences and he never failed to fill family gatherings with love and laughter.

A graduate of Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn, New York, Anthony was a natural-born salesman, having begun his lengthy career in sales at Bryce Audio and Sounds & Sights Audio in Manhattan, New York.  Upon moving to South Plainfield, New Jersey, in 1985, Anthony continued his sales career at Citadel Motivations Incorporated in Metuchen, New Jersey, where he met the love of his life, Rosa.  He was the proud proprietor and operator of Mail Boxes, Etc. which served the community of Piscataway, New Jersey from the years 2000 to 2010.  He concluded his working career at Sears in 2020.

Anthony was a lover of music and fostered this love over the course of his life, having a full repertoire of various artists and genres in his personal collection.  One of his favorites being Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones.  He was an avid New York Rangers, Giants, and Mets fan.  He had a keen eye for detail and an adoration for building replicas of model cars and trucks.  Most recently, Anthony began an online business called Custom Squad’s Parts and Accessories.  While Anthony had many hobbies, his latest passion since retirement became cooking.  He was a food enthusiast who took great joy in researching new recipes and preparing delicious meals for himself and his wife, Rosa.

Anthony was a compassionate animal lover and embraced many cats into his heart over the course of his life.  His latest addition was a kitten named Noir, which he rescued from the Edison Animal Shelter in October 2023.  He was deeply smitten with her and would refer to her as “his baby.”

Anthony is predeceased by his sister Josephine, his brothers, Salvatore and Michael, and his brother-in-law, Charles Kiersted.

Anthony is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Rosa, by his brothers Frank J. Leonetti, Jr. (Debbie), Joseph Leonetti, sisters Ann Kiersted, Francine Leonetti, Nancy Scrofini (Richard), Theresa Leonetti, and by his many adoring nieces and nephews.
