Obituary of Brian Steve Silva
Brian Steve Silva, age 25, passed away after a valiant battle with cancer on July 15, 2024, at Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York City. He was born on November 24, 1998, to Gladys Diaz and Jose Silva at Muhlenberg Hospital in Plainfield, New Jersey. Brian was raised in Green Brook, New Jersey, where he resided for most of his life before moving to South Plainfield seven years ago.
Brian's unwavering faith in Jesus Christ was a cornerstone of his strength and hope throughout his journey. Through his faith, he believed his name was written in the Book of Eternal Life, providing him with immense comfort and assurance during his battle with cancer.
Brian graduated from Watchung Hills Regional High School and went on to earn a degree in Mechanical Engineering from NJIT. Inspired by his mother and sister, who are in the nursing field, Brian decided to pursue a second degree in Nursing at Raritan Valley Community College.
Brian worked as a pharmacy technician at CVS in North Plainfield, New Jersey, where he enjoyed his job and cherished the friendships he formed with his coworkers, especially his two best friends.
A gifted student, Brian excelled in all subjects, particularly math. He was known for his brilliance and was capable of solving a Rubik's cube in a matter of seconds. From a young age, Brian was a car enthusiast, able to identify every automobile logo by the age of 5. As an adult, he became a sports car fanatic, with his pride and joy being his Toyota GR86.
Brian is survived by his loving parents, Gladys Diaz and Jose Silva, and his three siblings, Melissa O’Neal, Christopher Silva, and Nicole Silva. He is also survived by his nephews, Julian, Sebastian, and Fabian.
A visitation will be held on Friday, July 19, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Higgins Home Funerals, followed by a 12:30 p.m. Pastoral Service. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plains, New Jersey.
Brian was a kind and compassionate person who never complained. He always had a positive mindset despite all the challenges he may have faced. He remained dedicated to his education and his future dreams up until the very end. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.

Nació el 24 de noviembre de 1998, hijo de Gladys Díaz y José Silva en el Hospital Muhlenberg de Plainfield, Nueva Jersey. Se llevará a cabo una visita el viernes 19 de julio de 2024, de 9:30 a.m. a 12:30 p.m. en Higgins Home Funerals, seguida de un Servicio Pastoral a las 12:30 p.m. La inhumación será en el Cementerio Hillside en Scotch Plains, Nueva Jersey.
Brian era una persona amable y compasiva que nunca se quejaba. Siempre tenía una mentalidad positiva a pesar de todos los desafíos que pudo haber enfrentado. Se mantuvo dedicado a su educación y a sus sueños futuros hasta el final. Su memoria será apreciada por todos los que lo conocieron y amaron.
