Obituary of Gustave J. Bearlepp
Gustave J. Bearlepp passed away peacefully at home in Warren, New Jersey, on July 15th, 2024, at the age of 91. He was born June 28th, 1933, in Bernardsville, New Jersey, to the late Anna Whitmore Bearlepp and Gustave Bearlepp.
He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He loved to brag about how many great-grandchildren he had. He loved working with his hands in his workshop. He was able to make a deck around our above-ground swimming pool and a gazebo for his wife Wanita for her to read in the cool breeze. He met his wife Wanita while working at the Piston Ring. He loved watching wrestling, the Dodgers, and Notre Dame Football. He volunteered at the Visiting Nurse Association rummage sale in the tool department. He watched over his neighbor, Mrs. Richter, for many years, helping her with her leaves and snow removal.
His work history involved the United Piston Ring, where he made parts for military planes. He also worked at Picut Manufacturing and Bell Laboratories in Murray Hill as a security guard. He loved greeting people as they would sign into the building.
Gus loved traveling around the United States with his wife Wanita in their van, which was converted into a camper. He drove to California to see his sister and family and also drove to Montana to see his wife's sisters and brothers.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Wanita (2020), his parents, Gustave and Anna, and his siblings Agnes, Helen, John, Anna, and Louise.
He is survived by his daughters Polly Stovel and her husband, Dave, Wanda Michniewicz and her husband, Edward, and Marietta Dealaman and her husband, Scott. Her grandchildren Melissa Kugel and her husband Matt, Robert Michniewicz, Amie Michniewicz and Brian Lucia, Amanda Trinka and her husband Scott, Matthew Dealaman and his wife Tiffany, and his great-grandchildren Aeryn Kugel, Rylee Lucia, Elise Trinka, Tristan Trinka, and Allasandra Dealaman. Kate, his caregiver, who took wonderful care of him for the last five years, and many nieces and nephews.
He will be forever missed by his family and will be forever in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Visiting Nurse Association of Somerset Hills, Basking Ridge, NJ, or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in his name.
