Jason Ball, Sr.

Obituary of Jason Lewis Ball, Sr.

In remembrance of Jason Lewis Ball, born in St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, New Jersey on Wednesday, February 8, 1978, the only child of Lewis Jr and Marcia Ball. His childhood was spent growing up in Plainfield, New Jersey, where his family attended the South Plainfield Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Raised in a loving and spiritual environment, Jason was known to be a respectful and thoughtful young boy with many “Aunties” and “Uncles” in the congregation. At the age of 15 in 1993, Jason was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Although he stopped attending meetings in his later teens, the Bible truths he learned when he was young were instilled in his heart and he was making every effort to return back to serving his God Jehovah.

Jason’s parents instilled the principle of hard work in him and he began helping his parents in their carpet cleaning business while still in school. Technically inclined, after graduating from Dunellen High School, Jason attended DeVry University in New Brunswick, New Jersey majoring in IT and Network Communications. Jason worked for Advanced Health Media and at his last job, for IQVIA in Bridgewater, New Jersey, where he was a Client Services Manager. His mentor, Aisha Jordan, whom he met when he first started working, was influential in helping him shape his career path and Jason was sincerely grateful for her guidance and advice.

A high-energy, rambunctious and athletic youth, Jason enjoyed outdoor activities such as basketball, skiing, biking and fishing with his mom. This active spirit would stay with him throughout his life and he pursued recreational activities such as kayaking, swimming and motorbiking. His passion was taking road trips with his Harley Davidson up and down the East coast with his friends and the love of life and fiancée, Venus Rivera. Jason was a long-time member of a motorcycle club and made road trips to places like Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Miami, Florida. Many of his close friends were also motorcycle enthusiasts and he considered them a part of his extended family.

As much as he loved motorbiking, when his first child, daughter Jai Lyann was born in June of 2008, his priorities immediately switched to his family. Jai was followed by Jason Lewis Jr, born two years later in May of 2010 and then Julius Alexander in June of 2017. Jason and Venus valued time with family and friends, and would often plan family outings, host backyard barbecues and pool parties. For these events, Jason would utilize his cooking skills to try new recipes and grilling techniques. No one would ever leave hungry at their cookouts!

A “people person” with a good sense of humor, Jason loved making his friends laugh and he had a reputation as a funny practical joker. A deep thinker, he was philosophical in his approach to life, often writing poetry to express his feelings. He enjoyed mentoring young people and helping coworkers find a balance between work and family. Jason once told a colleague who was working a lot that although work was important, spending time with family was the best thing to focus on.

Jason was looking forward to his upcoming marriage this fall to Venus Rivera. Together they were raising Jai, Jason Jr and their son, Julius along with Jacob Chu and Jessica Davis, Venus’ oldest daughter. Venus was his “pillion” and his sounding board and Jason saw this as a step forward to drawing closer to his God, Jehovah.

In the evening of July 20, 2024, while on the way home on his motorcycle with his friend, Jason tragically died in an accident. He will always be remembered for his deep devotion to his children, Jai, Jason and Julius; his enduring love for his fiancée Venus Rivera; and his dear parents, Lewis and Marcie Ball. He leaves behind numerous aunties and uncles, cousins and relatives and his motorcycle family, colleagues and friends. Jason touched many lives with his thoughtfulness and infectious zest for life and will be greatly missed.

We are so appreciative of all the love, support and kindness for the many relatives, friends and colleagues that have given us comfort and support for our family during this difficult and challenging time.
