Obituary of Hebat Amine Toma
Mrs. Hebat Amine Toma, age 77, passed away peacefully at her home in Warren, New Jersey, on July 31, 2024, just one day shy of her birthday. Born on August 1, 1946, in Asiut, Egypt, Hebat was the cherished daughter of Amine Toma and Wedad Hannallah. She shared her early years in Asiut, living there from 1946 to 1964, before moving to Cairo, Egypt, where she resided from 1964 until 2019. In 2019, Hebat made the significant move to New Jersey, USA, where she spent the final years of her life, surrounded by her family and loved ones.
A talented and accomplished individual, Hebat graduated from Cairo University with a degree in Fine Arts, specializing in Interior Design Engineering. Her passion for the arts and education led her to a fulfilling career as an Art Teacher Supervisor in the Department of Education in Cairo, Egypt. Through her work, Hebat touched the lives of many students and colleagues, leaving a lasting impact on the educational community.
Hebat was also a devoted parishioner of the Kasr el Dobara Evangelical Church. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and providing her with strength and comfort throughout her journey. Hebat found immense joy in drawing and listening to hymns, pursuits that reflected her deeply spiritual and creative nature. Her artistic talents were not only a personal joy but also a means of expressing her faith and sharing beauty with those around her.
Hebat was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Girgis Zakher, in 2018; her brother, Naaim Amean Galy Toma, in 2006; and her sister, Hekmat Amean Galy Toma, in 2015. Their memories remained close to her heart, and she spoke of them often with love and fondness.
She is survived by her three devoted children: Wagdy Zakher and his spouse Nariman Abbassi, Sylviana Azab and her spouse Basem Azab, and Loridana Khalil and her spouse Khalil Khalil. Hebat is also survived by her two loving siblings, Dr. Raouf Amean Galy and Thoria Amean Galy Toma, as well as her ten cherished grandchildren: Sylvia Zakher, Cynthia Zakher, Peter Zakher, John Zakher, Lilian Azab, Lydia Azab, David Azab, Grace Khalil, Daniel Khalil, and Mercy Khalil. Hebat’s family was her pride and joy, and she dedicated her life to their happiness and well-being.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at a visitation held on Saturday, August 3, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., at the Park Street Chapel, located at 809 East 2nd Avenue, Roselle, New Jersey 07203. A funeral service will follow at the Chapel, commencing at 10:00 a.m. Hebat will be laid to rest at Somerset Hills Memorial Park, located at 95 Mount Airy Road, Basking Ridge, New Jersey 07920.
Hebat's legacy of love, faith, and artistic talent will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her. Her life was a testament to the beauty of creativity, the strength of faith, and the enduring power of love.
