Obituary of Carol Nicastro
Carol Nicastro (née Fish), a lifelong resident of New Jersey, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at her home in Watchung.
Born in Trenton and raised in Plainfield and South Plainfield, Carol had been a cherished member of the Watchung community for 67 years, where she and her beloved husband, Joseph, raised their family.
Carol was a woman of many talents and passions. From her early years playing the piano and singing, to her later life where she excelled in ceramics and gardening, Carol embraced creativity with open arms. She was also an exceptional cook and cherished her time on the road, exploring states like Tennessee, Kentucky, and Ohio on antique car trips, and relaxing at the beach.
Above all, Carol was devoted to her family, a commitment that defined her life.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Nicastro, in 2018, and her granddaughter, Stephanie, in 2021. She was also preceded in death by her parents, James and Verna Fish, and her siblings Lois and James.
She leaves behind her husband of 67 years, Joseph Nicastro, her sons Joseph (Helene) and Steve Nicastro, her grandchildren Joey (Jillian) and Amy, her great-grandchildren Ava and Sammy, and her sister Phyllis.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Higgins Home For Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on the following day, on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow immediately at St. Mary's Stony Hill Cemetery in Watchung, NJ.
Carol's unwavering love and dedication to her family will be forever remembered and deeply missed.
