Obituary of Edson Osiel Ixim Choc
Edson Osiel Ixim Choc, age 51, passed away peacefully at his home in Plainfield, New Jersey, on August 10, 2024, surrounded by his devoted family. Born in Cahabón, Guatemala, Edson spent his early years in his homeland before moving to Plainfield at the age of 24 to build a new life.
Edson was a man of many talents and ambitions. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration in Guatemala, which laid the foundation for his future endeavors. Upon arriving in the United States, he began his career at Smith’s Home Improvements in Plainfield. However, when his brother launched Ixim HVAC LLC., Edson quickly joined him, becoming an essential part of the company’s success. Together, they nurtured the business, watching it flourish over the years.
A man of deep faith, Edson was a dedicated member of St. Mary’s R.C. Church in Plainfield, where he found strength and community. His spirituality was a guiding force in his life, influencing his actions and relationships.
Edson was also a passionate athlete, and while he enjoyed various sports, soccer was his true love. As an exceptional midfielder, he played a pivotal role in leading his club team, “Sporting Chabon,” to numerous victories. Off the field, he was a fervent supporter of FC Barcelona, always cheering for his favorite team. Beyond sports, Edson was a connoisseur of good food, relishing in the joy of sharing meals with family and close friends.
Above all, Edson was known for his vibrant sense of humor. His quick wit and infectious laughter could lighten any moment, bringing joy to those around him. Even in his final moments, Edson’s spirit shone through as he shared a joke, leaving his loved ones with a cherished memory.
Edson’s legacy lives on through his many siblings as well as his beloved nieces and nephews who were like his own children and who he spent his whole life caring and guiding over them: Angela Ixim, Vilmania Esperanza Ixim, Celvin Ixim Jr., Emely Collado, and Marcel Nicholas Collado. He is also survived by numerous other nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends who were touched by his kindness and love.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 16, 2024, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s R.C. Church, 516 W 6th St, Plainfield, NJ. Following the mass, Edson will be laid to rest in his beloved homeland of Guatemala, where his journey began.
