Obituary of Lucille Taub
Lucille Taub, a passionate advocate for cultural arts and education, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at her home in Somerset, New Jersey, on Monday, August 26, 2024. Born on September 1, 1931, in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, Lucille lived a vibrant and impactful life that spanned several communities including Miami and Scotch Plains before settling in Somerset in 2003.
A dedicated member of Temple Sholom since 1970, Lucille's commitment to her community was profound. She was instrumental in establishing an adult education program at the temple, and her tireless volunteerism earned her multiple accolades. Her efforts included concerts for Benny Goodman and Theodore Bikel. Her passion for the cultural arts was evident through the over 84 musical programs she produced for her Canal Walk Community.
Lucille also found joy in playing bridge with her friends weekly and was renowned among her family and friends for her delightful cooking, creating many cherished meals and memories.
She leaves behind her husband of 72 years, Merrill Taub; her daughter, Debra Rothbard and her husband, Alan; two grandchildren, Jeffrey (and his wife, Caitlin) and Jake (and his wife, Jamie); and four great-grandchildren, Emma, Colin, Maya, and Leo.
A funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Friday at Temple Sholom in Scotch Plains, New Jersey, followed by burial at Flemington Jewish Community Cemetery. Lucille's legacy of fostering education and cultural enrichment will be dearly remembered by all who knew her.
