It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Martha Yolanda Arias-Mites, who left us unexpectedly following a motor vehicle accident near her home in North Plainfield on September 5, 2024. Born in Ambato, Ecuador, on January 26, 1947, Martha moved to the United States in 2004 and has since been a cherished member of the North Plainfield community.
Martha was renowned for her entrepreneurial spirit, always finding ways to support herself and her family. Martha was also a great foundation to help her family and friends migrate to the United States. Upon relocating to New Jersey, she began working at the Mail Depot in Piscataway, where she was admired for her diligence and friendly demeanor. A devoted member of the Ministerio de Fe y Renovacion Church in Piscataway, Martha was deeply spiritual, her faith guiding her through life’s challenges and joys.
As the beloved matriarch of her extensive family, Martha’s greatest joy came from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whose achievements and smiles brought her immense happiness. She enjoyed cooking and was often the life of any gathering with her love for dance. Martha was also an avid gardener, known for conversing with her plants, and had a profound love for all animals, particularly dogs and cats.
Martha leaves behind a loving legacy with her three children, a product of love with Renee Olivo. Their children Freddie and his wife Kathy, Ruth Ramos, and Richard and his wife Karina. She was a proud grandmother to ten grandchildren: Veronica, Anthony, Matthew, Benjamin, Maria, Henry, Julissa, Daniel, Angie, and Genesis; and six great-grandchildren: Danna, Fernando, Andrew, Jonathan, Angelica, and Nali. She is also survived by her siblings, Luz Maria and Mauricio Patricio, and remembered by her predeceased siblings, Llogo, Paquito, Fabian, and Rocio.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Higgins Home For Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ. A funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, September 12, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Martha will be laid to rest at Hillside Cemetery, 1401 Woodland Avenue, Scotch Plains, NJ.
Martha’s vibrant spirit and loving heart have left an indelible mark on all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but remembered forever as a guiding light in the lives of her family and friends.

Con profunda tristeza anunciamos el fallecimiento de Martha Yolanda Arias-Mites, quien nos dejó inesperadamente tras un accidente de tráfico cerca de su hogar en North Plainfield el 5 de septiembre de 2024. Nacida en Ambato, Ecuador, el 26 de enero de 1947, Martha se trasladó a los Estados Unidos en 2004 y desde entonces ha sido un miembro querido de la comunidad de North Plainfield.
Martha era reconocida por su espíritu emprendedor, siempre encontrando maneras de sostenerse a sí misma y a su familia. Además Martha fue el pilar para atrávez de ella ayudar a familiares y conocidos a emigrar a Estados Unidos. Al mudarse a Nueva Jersey, comenzó a trabajar en el Mail Depot en Piscataway, donde era admirada por su diligencia y trato amable. Era una abuela orgullosa de diez nietos: Verónica, Anthony, Matthew, Benjamín, María, Henry, Julissa, Daniel, Angie y Génesis; y seis bisnietos: Danna, Fernando, Andrew, Jonathan, Angélica y Nali. También le sobreviven sus hermanos, Luz María, Mauricio y Patricio es recordada por sus hermanos fallecidos Llogo, Paquito, Fabián y Rocio.
El velorio se llevará a cabo el miércoles 11 de septiembre, 2024, de 5:00 p.m. a 9:00 p.m. en Higgins Home For Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ. Un servicio fúnerario se llevará a partir de el jueves 12 de septiembre, 2024, a las 10:00 a.m. en la funeraria. Martha será sepultada en el Hillside Cemetery, 1401 Woodland Avenue, Scotch Plains, NJ.
El espíritu vibrante y corazón amoroso de Martha han dejado una huella indeleble en todos los que la conocieron. Será profundamente extrañada pero recordada por siempre como una luz guía en la vida de su familia y amigos.
