Obituary of Shannon J. Sullivan
Shannon J. Sullivan, age 51, of Warren, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family in his home on Thursday, October 17, 2024. Born on September 24, 1973, in Long Branch, New Jersey, Shannon grew up in Hazlet and spent many years in Tinton Falls before settling in Warren four years ago.
An active member of Our Lady of the Mount Church in Warren, Shannon was deeply rooted in his faith and community. He loved hosting get-togethers at his home, where he could often be found grilling or making pizzas for his friends and family. His passion for the outdoors was ignited early in his life during hunting and fishing trips with his grandfather, Eddie. These experiences shaped him into an avid outdoorsman, known for his remarkable hunting skills and even a state record for deer hunting in New Jersey. Beyond the sport, Shannon cherished the camaraderie and lifelong friendships he built during these adventures in the woods as well as on the road. He was fascinated by anything with an engine — from restoring classic cars to going out for a ride on Harley-Davidson motorcycles. His enthusiasm for driving fast and tinkering in the garage was matched by his adventurous spirit; he traveled all over the world, often accompanied by his beloved family members.
Shannon dedicated over 30 years to his career at Brother, where his hard work, leadership, and competitive spirit left an indelible mark. Beginning in the service team, Shannon's journey led him to the role of Vice President of the Home Appliance Division, where he worked tirelessly to support the company and its customers. Shannon was recognized for his fundraising efforts with the American Cancer Society, and for openly sharing his personal health struggles and offering support to others facing challenges. He was known for his passion in uncovering new business and his unrelenting drive in negotiations, yet those who knew him best appreciated his sense of humor and kind heart. His influence extended beyond business, as Shannon built lasting relationships and mentored many of his colleagues, always exemplifying what it meant to be "One Brother." Despite his impressive career, Shannon’s greatest joy was his family, and he often reminded his team to focus on work-life balance and what truly matters most.
He leaves behind his devoted wife, Doretta, his children, Alexis and her husband Daniel, Hayley and her partner Alex, and Ella and Joey. Shannon is also survived by his father, Kevin; his aunt Lorraine, who was like a mother to him; and his brothers, Alex, Kyle, and Elijah.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2024, from 2 PM to 6 PM at Higgins Home For Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ, with speeches at 4 PM by his best friend Charlie Corsentino and his close friend and colleague Ryan Warsaw, followed by services at 5:30 PM with Rev. Sean Kenney. The funeral mass will take place on Monday, October 21, at 11 AM at Our Lady of the Mount Roman Catholic Church in Warren, NJ.
