Judith “Judy” Attanasio, a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Green Brook, New Jersey, on Friday, November 29, 2024. She was 78 years old.
Born on February 19, 1946, in Newark, New Jersey, Judy was the cherished daughter of the late Armando and Adelaide DeAmorim. She grew up in the vibrant Ironbound section of Newark, where she cultivated a deep appreciation for family, tradition, and storytelling. Judy later set down roots in Kearny, Westfield, and Kenilworth before moving to Green Brook 10 years ago, where she spent her final years.
Judy built a successful career in office administration and bookkeeping, working for nine years at Parker Gardens in Scotch Plains and previously for companies such as Paychex and other insurance firms. While her professional contributions were meaningful, her greatest joy and life’s work was her role as a world-class homemaker and devoted mother.
A pillar of her family, Judy dedicated herself to supporting her loved ones in every way possible. Whether cheering on her sons at football games or proudly attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, she embraced every opportunity to be present for her family. Judy’s warm personality and love for storytelling drew people to her. She delighted in sharing tales of her youth and experiences with anyone eager to listen, enriching countless conversations with her humor, insight, and charm.
Judy’s culinary talents were legendary, particularly her homemade meatballs, which became a beloved tradition in her household. Friends and family alike would eagerly gather around her table, savoring meals infused with love and care. Her cooking was more than nourishment; it was a way to bring people together and create lasting memories.
In her quiet moments, Judy enjoyed simple pleasures such as watching Family Feud and Judge Judy, her favorite TV shows that brought her lighthearted entertainment. Despite life’s challenges, she maintained a zest for life, always cherishing her time with loved ones.
Judy was predeceased by her husband, Anthony Attanasio, and her son, Carlo Attanasio, whom she held close in her heart. She is survived by her loving son, Joseph Attanasio, and his wife, Tammy, as well as her three cherished grandchildren: Anthony, Danny, and Aria. She also leaves behind her dear brother, Bob DeAmorim and his wife, Jean, who were a constant source of love and support in her life.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation on Friday, December 6, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ.
