Obituary for Libero R. Ravaioli Jr.

Libero R. Ravaioli Jr. “Lee”, 90, of Somerset, New Jersey, peacefully completed his circle of life on December 5, 2024, having been born on December 5, 1934. Lee was raised in Elizabeth, New Jersey and was the beloved son of the late Libero R. Ravaioli Sr. and Louise Carella.

Lee lived a life dedicated to hard work, family, and service to his community. Throughout his life, he called several New Jersey towns home. After his early years in Elizabeth, he resided in Port Reading, Sewaren, Milltown, Berkeley Heights, and Basking Ridge, before settling in Somerset in 2003. He was a man of diverse skills and determination, beginning his career as a technician with the Union County Telephone Company, serving as a UPS driver, and later becoming the proud owner of Lee & Ed's Automotive in Stirling, New Jersey. In addition, he worked as a starter for the Somerset County Park Commission for 19 years, a role that allowed him to combine his love for golf with his passion for meeting people.

Lee's vibrant life was filled with family, friends, and an enjoyment of recreation. He was known for his hobbies of golf, travel, playing cards, and bowling. Above all, he cherished time with his family, building a legacy of charity, laughter, and cherished memories.

A devout man of faith, Lee was a long-time parishioner of Christ the Redeemer in Manville, New Jersey. His devotion was a guiding light for his family and all who knew him.

Lee was predeceased by his loving wife, Catherine Ravaioli, as well as his brothers, Jerry and Ronald Ravaioli. He leaves behind a family who love and will miss him deeply, including his children, Kevin L. Ravaioli (Cheryl Ravaioli), Keith E. Ravaioli (Ned Jalbert), Kent A. Ravaioli (Patty Ravaioli), Lisa M. Ravaioli (Kristina Militante), Kraig A. Ravaioli (April Ravaioli), and Angela M. Ravaioli. He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense pride and joy. His legacy of faith, love, and kindness will endure in his family and extended family members.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024, from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ 07069 and Friday, December 13, 2024, from 8:30 AM – 9:30 AM at Christ the Redeemer Roman Catholic Parish, 98 S 2nd Ave, Manville, NJ 08835, followed by a 9:30 AM Funeral Mass at the church.  An Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Basking Ridge, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Lee's memory to Building Homes for Heroes, K9's for Warriors, or Operation Second Chance — causes that reflect his enduring spirit of generosity and service.

Libero R. Ravaioli Jr. will be remembered for his devotion to family, his indomitable work ethic, his wicked sense of humor, and the joy he brought to those who had the pleasure of knowing him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones forever.
