Obituary of Esther DeFroscia

Esther DeFroscia (née DeFilippis), 94, of North Plainfield, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, surrounded by love. Born on August 29, 1930, to Raymond and Frances DeFilippis in Newark, New Jersey, Esther was raised in Newark and later resided in Bloomfield for many years before making North Plainfield her home 15 years ago.

A woman of deep faith, Esther was a former parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church in Newark, NJ and Our Lady of All Souls Roman Catholic Church. Her days were filled with simple joys—preparing home-cooked meals for her loved ones, cheering on the New York Yankees, and cherishing every precious moment with her family.

Esther’s elegance was matched only by her kindness. She was a devoted wife, a gentle and classy woman who never spoke ill of anyone and whose radiant smile warmed every room she entered. She was a source of unwavering love and strength, embodying grace and goodness throughout her life.

Esther was predeceased by her beloved husband, John DeFroscia, with whom she shared 65 wonderful years of marriage, her brother, Raymond DeFilippis, and her sister-in-law, Marie DeFilippis. She is survived by her devoted son, John DeFroscia, Jr., her cherished nephew, Raymond DeFilippis, and her beloved first cousin and dearest friend, Sandra Yannarrelli, who was like a sister to her. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Sandra for her constant and devoted care, always ensuring Esther felt comforted and loved.

The family would also like to acknowledge Joyce, Esther’s devoted caretaker of the past six years, for her exceptional care and kindness. Joyce’s compassion made an immeasurable difference in Esther’s final years, and the family will forever be grateful for her dedication.

Esther’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and kindness that will continue to inspire those who were blessed to share in her beautiful life.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Esther’s memory.
