Obituary of Maria Importico

Maria (DiDario) Importico, age 88, died on Monday, October 27, 2014, at her home in North Plainfield with her loving sister Angelina by her side. Born in Caserta, Italy, she lived in Plainfield before moving to North Plainfield in 1970. Prior to retiring in 1988, Maria worked for twenty-five years at National Starch Laboratories in Plainfield as a Chemical Assistant. Maria was a member of St. Joseph's RC Church in North Plainfield. In her spare time she enjoyed growing fruits, vegetables and flowers in her garden. She loved spending time with her brothers, sisters and extended family. Predeceased by her husband Thomas H. Importico in 2006 and her brothers Guiseppe DiDario and his wife Maria of Liberi Caserta, Italy and Nicola DiDario of Westfield. She is also predeceased by a sister-in-law Gina DiDario. Surviving are her brothers Benito DiDario and Adolfo DiDario and his wife Lorenza all of Westfield; sisters Anna Diana of Liberi Caserta, Italy and her husband Alfonso and Angelina DeCristofaro and her husband Angelo of North Plainfield; sister-in-law Maria DiDario of Westfield; sixteen nieces and nephews; twenty-nine great nieces and nephews and one great-great nephew. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 11:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's RC Church, North Plainfield. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Westfield. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 28th from 5-9 p.m.
