Obituary of Salvatore Dellaventura
Salvatore Dellaventura, age 84, died on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at the Royal Suites Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Galloway. Born in Plainfield, he was the son of the late Joseph Dellaventura and Catherine Bove Dellaventura.
Sal served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Based in Germany, he attained the rank of Master Sargent and was in charge of the Motor Pool.
After his honorable discharge, Sal became a plumber. Employed by Triangle Plumbing of Mountainside, he successfully achieved the designation of "Master Plumber". Sal was a proud member of Plumbers Local 24, The United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipefitting Industry of the United States and Canada.
An avid sports enthusiast, Sal especially loved "the horses". There were many visits to area racetracks, and frequent outings with friends and relatives. Sal loved to dance and he enjoyed his sweets, especially Hershey bars with almonds.
He is survived by his sister, Josephine Dellaventura ; his brothers Anthony and Dominick Dellaventura and 7 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will begin on Monday, November 3rd at 9:00 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 209 West 8th St. Plainfield NJ followed by a 10 am Funeral Mass at St. Bernard's Church in Plainfield.
