Obituary of Walter Barca
Walter Barca, age 70, passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2015 at University Hospital in Newark. Born in Sicily, he resided in North Plainfield for many years, before moving to New Providence 11 years ago.
Mr. Barca had a love of cars where he worked independently as a mechanic. He later went on to work as a mason for 15 years with various local contractors.
Walter was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace in New Providence.
He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed playing Italian card games with his family and friends.
He is predeceased by his brother, Vincent Barca.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 43 years, Vincenza Barca; his sons, Joseph Barca and his wife, Nicole of Watchung, Ralph Barca and his wife, Tiffany of Whitehouse Station, Ivan Barca and his wife, Kim of Dunellen; his brothers, Carmelo Barca and Giacomo Barca; his sisters, Lina Guinta and Josephine; and his 4 grandchildren, Thomas, Joseph, Isabella and Emilia.
Viewing will be held on Thursday January 29, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd, Watchung. Funeral Services will begin on Friday at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Peace Church in New Providence. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Stony Hill Church, Watchung.
