Obituary of Chungjian Jerry Ong

Chungjian Jerry Ong, age 70, passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown. He was born in China and raised in Taipei, Taiwan. He came to the United States in 1969 for his PhD in Chemical Engineering at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. He had lived in Warren for the past 26 years. Prior to his retirement, he was a Chemical Engineer for Pfizer in Princeton. Mr. Ong enjoyed Mahjong, basketball, tennis, stock trading and singing. He also enjoyed being with his family and friends. He is predeceased by his wife, Shihmay Christine Ong. Surviving are his daughters, Katherine Ong and Janice Ong Chiodo and her husband Timothy Chiodo; his brothers, Danny Ong and Terry Ong and his sisters, Nancy Chang, and Chung Fu Chik and Clara Lee. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by interment at Fairview Cemetery, Westfield. Visitation will be on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m.
