Obituary of George A. Lee
George A. Lee, age 87, died on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at RWJ Somerset, surrounded by his loving family. George was born in Hillside, NJ to the late Edward W. Lee and Gertrude. He graduated from Hillside High School in 1946 and entered and served in the US Air Force for three years. He was stationed in numerous locations including Alaska and Germany for the Berlin Air Lift after World War II.
After serving his country, George worked and attended Rutgers, Newark full time. After his marriage to his wife Ruth, he lived in Newark, South Plainfield, and for the last 37 years, Warren Township. He was employed for 37 years as a Bio Lab Testing Technician in Quality Control at Anheuser Busch in Newark, retiring in 1989.
George enjoyed cruising, traveling around the world, visiting Atlantic City, reading, working in his yard and relaxing at his home on Long Beach Island, and especially loved spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and was very proud of his family and all their accomplishments. He was a warm and wonderful man with a terrific sense of humor who loved being with people. He will be greatly missed.
He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 59 years, Ruth M. Lee (2010), and his brother Edward (during WWII).
He is survived by his loving children, Kathryn R. Creighton and her husband Thomas, George A. Lee Jr., his grandchildren Katie, Timothy, and Kyle Lee, Karin Wolosz and her husband, Matthew and Jeffrey Creighton, his sister Dorothy Groh and her husband George, along with many nieces and nephews.
Cremation will be private. A memorial service is being held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung.
In lieu of flowers a donation in his memory to the Food Bank Network of Somerset County, P.O. Box 149, Bound Brook, NJ 08805 would be greatly appreciated. It was a cause he loved working to support.
