Sister Mary Laura Nolan, age 81, died Tuesday (May 27, 2003) at McAuley Hall Health Care Center in Watchung

Sister Laura entered the Sisters of Mercy in 1939. She received a BA degree from Georgian Court College and an MA degree in English Literature from Villanova University, PA.

Sister Laura was an exemplary educator in elementary and secondary schools for more than 40 years. She was often applauded by her students for her love of teaching and her sincere interest in sharing her knowledge with them.

In 1972, she pursued a career in nursing and was part of the staff at McAuley Hall for 10 years, where she continued her committment to serve others in the name of Mercy. After retiring from nursing, she served as Archives Assistant for the Sisters of Mercy, Regional Community of NJ. She served in this capacity until moving to McAuley Hall Health Care Center in 2003.

She is survived by several cousins.

Visitation will take place from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2003 at St. Catherine Siena Chapel at McAuley Hall Health Care Center, 1633 Highway 22, Watchung, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at Holy Redeemer Cemetery in South Plainfield.
