OBITUARY Dr. Edward Wells Tristram II, Ph.D. Merck Research Chemist WATCHUNG: Dr. Edward Wells Tristram II, Ph.D. died at his home on Wednesday, June 18, 2003 at the age of 86. He was born in Brooklyn, NY and lived in Watchung for 33 years. He attended City College of New York receiving his Bachelor of Science degree, New York University receiving his Masters degree and then Columbia University receiving his Ph.D. degree. Dr. Tristram worked for Merck & Co. in Rahway as a Research Chemist for 37 years, retiring in 1988. He served as a Lieutenant Naval Aviator during World War II. He was an early advocate in the Civil Rights struggle and he believed in the Brotherhood of Man. He participated for many years in the NJ Table Tennis Association; also he and his wife were square dancers and taught round dancing for 20 years. He is survived by his wife, Marguerite A. Doner Tristram, whom he married in Pensacola in 1943. Four children, Edward Wells Tristram III and his wife Greta of New York City, NY; Dr. Stephanie Tristram-Nagle and her husband Dr. John Nagle of Pittsburgh, PA; Pamela Tristram and her husband Richard Johnstone of San Francisco, CA.; and David Tristram and his wife Claire of San Jose, CA. Six grandchildren, Alexandria, Julia, Lara, Edward IV, Lucille and Paul. There will be a Memorial Service on Saturday, June 28th at 11 a.m. in All Saints Episcopal Church, 559 Park Avenue, Scotch Plains. Interment will be private.
