Obituary of Teresa Balek
Teresa Balek, 92, died Nov. 6, 2012, in St. Clare's Hospital, Denville, N.J. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Nov. 8, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Higgins Home for Funerals, 209 W. 8th St., Plainfield, N.J.. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 10 a.m., followed by entombment at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield, N.J. Born in Bayonne, N.J., Mrs. Balek resided in Plainfield for over 50 years before moving to Rockaway, N.J., with her daughter three years ago. She owned her own beauty shop in Westfield, N.J. for 40 years. Mrs. Balek was a former communicant of St. Stanislaus R.C. Church in Plainfield, and a member of the Rosary Society. She was a past president of the Polish Club in Plainfield. During the Cold War, Mrs. Balek would house family members from Poland at her home. One of her greatest joys in life was treating friends and family to dinner. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Balek, and her son, Edward Markowski. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Glikman and her husband, Henry; her sister, Eleanor Jankowski; four granddaughters, one grandson, and four great-grandchildren.
