Obituary of Augusta Potter

Augusta Potter, a longtime Plainfield resident, died Monday, July 28, 2003 at the McCarrick Care Center in Somerset. Born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Nathan and Sarah Moskowitz Cohen, she resided in Plainfield for many years before moving to Hollywood, Florida in 1975 and Somerset in March of 2000. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Mrs. Potter was a longtime member of Temple Sholom in Plainfield and Hadassah and BNai Brith in Florida and New Jersey. Her husband, Samuel I. Potter predeceased her in 1985. Surviving are a son, Sherman C. Potter; two daughters, Laura P. Shilstat and Norma Fisch; a brother, Harry Cohen, 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 209 West 8th Street in Plainfield with Rabbi George Nudell officiating, followed by an interment at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery in Iselin.
