Obituary of Antoinette F. Burns

Antoinette F. (Favate) Burns , age 92, died Saturday, August 9, 2003 at Phoebe Slate Belt Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Bangor, PA Born in Avellino, Italy, she immigrated to the United States at the age of 2, settling with her parents, Umberto and Bernice Galluccio Favate in Wappinger Falls, NY. She grew up in Bayonne, graduating from Bayonne High School, then moved to Jersey City when she married. Mrs. Burns also resided in Shadow Lake Village in Middletown, NJ for 4 years and at Mrs. Bushs Personal Care in Kunkletown, PA for 3 years before moving to Bangor, PA in October of 2002. Prior to retiring, Mrs. Burns was employed for over 40 years as an executive secretary by Mrs. George Perkins, the daughter of Mr. Merck, for the Estate of her husband, Mr. George Perkins, the former President of Merck Pharmaceutical. Mrs. Burns was a former member of St. Aloysis Church and its Rosary Altar Society in Jersey City. Her husband William F. Burns, Jr. predeceased her in 1989 and a sister Clare Wirth of Chatham, NJ recently predeceased her on the 4th of this month. Surviving are three sons, Lawrence F. Burns of Jersey City, NJ, William F. Burns III and his wife Barbara of East Stroudsburg, PA and Robert J. and his wife Geraldine Burns of Watchung, NJ, a brother, Samuel Favate of Bayonne, NJ, a sister Juliet Caruso of Jersey City, NJ and 4 grandchildren, John, William, Tara Marie and Antoinette Burns. Relatives and friends are invited to St. Marys Stony Hill R.C. Church, 225 Mountain Blvd, Watchung, NJ on Saturday, August 16, 2003 for an 11:00 am Funeral Mass. Cremation private. Arrangements are under the direction of the Higgins Home for Funerals, Watchung, NJ.
