Obituary of John Joseph Roman Jr.
John Joseph Roman, Jr., age 85, died on Wednesday, September 10, 2003 at St. Clares Hospital in Denville.
Born and raised in Plainfield to the late John J. Roman, Sr. and Mary Tiroly, John had lived in Basking Ridge before residing in Denville for the past two years.
Former communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church in Basking Ridge. John worked for the Worthington Corporation, Ransome Company and the Jersey Welding Supply, Inc. as a sales engineer retiring in 1983. He was also a member of the American Legion in Stirling. He loved being at the Jersey shore, golfing and going to baseball games.
John was a World War II veteran of the 80th Infantry, U.S. Army. He fought at the Bastogne Bulge, being wounded twice by German machine gunners. He received two medals, a Purple Heart and an Oak Leaf Cluster.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Agnes A. Kennedy Roman of Denville; one son, John J. Roman III of Bethlehem, PA; two daughters, Carol E. Cuthbertson of Del Mar, CA and Suzanne L. Schultz of Denville, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 13th at 10:30 a.m. in the Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Boulevard, Watchung. Interment will be in Holy Redeemer Cemetery in South Plainfield. Visitation is on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in the funeral home.
